DIY Rug Inspiration

8 09 2010

So, I was going a little personal shopping at the thrift store (I got a great light thermal to pretend it’s cold in) and since my other shop sold 1 book I could completely justify buying 2… right?

Who cares. So, one of them from 1973 called ‘Make it yourself’  had some generic clothing that I can’t knit or sew… pants without a pattern?  Come-on!

But, it did have some fabulous rugs which I will include photos of below. I am going to attempt the braided one but with red or yellow, blue, gray and light or bright blue. It shall be my welcome mat since the ones available for purchase at my local stores disappoint.

So, heres some photos:

If you want to know how to do it right now you can buy the book here (it’s on ebay- my copy stays with me!)

There were other kind of rugs that were a little too much for my home but still cool

It’s a latch hook square thing like my mom used to have us do… but you can move it around into different shapes! LOVE IT. Here’s the original pattern for the square

The book is less than $3 here. Or you can search for 1973 make it yourself needlework and crafts volume 1.

Ackward 30 Momish 90s fashion confusion

1 09 2010

Okay, Nearing 30. I will admit that my body has changed in shape and firmness mostly due to a lack of moving and an excess of white flour/sugar products. But, the thing is. I don’t want to dress like I am a lumpy 30 year old. I want to dress like a nonlumpy 30 year old I guess.

I was hard core about the high waisted skinny jeans at Urban Outfitters until I saw the pants pictured below make her bum slide down her leg. I love highwaisted jeans because they tuck away my little love handles. Low rise pants hit in just the right spot to pooch them up even further. The skinny style is because I am tall and have long skinny legs so it just works well for me.

So, I am torn as to whether I should buy the above linked to pants and maybe have the pockets lowered to have a better appearance or give up my aspirations of high waist skinny jeans.

TORN!

Onto a happier topic: I made my regular jeans with a looser leg into skinny jeans! Will post pictures if they came out half decent.

Vintage Shoes for the Feminine Types and the Tough Ones Too

19 12 2009

Ugh. My husband said I sounded like a Hillbilly because I use the word “Yup” two nights ago. Kinda like he thinks I look like a granny if I wear a granny sweater…. someday he will understand that I can’t look like a grandma as a 5’10” 28 year old with a Pixie Cut and Skinny jeans just like I can’t be taken for a hillbilly if the rest of the words I use are precise and articulate.
UGH, such a difficult life, hopefully these will ease the burden you are now carrying for me due to my husband’s misunderstandings….

Should I really sell these?

19 12 2009

I was prepared to give these up.. but the Metallic Top and the Skirts I am struggling with. I just have to keep reminding myself that I don’t wear skirts very much and that means that I should allow others to have them. Well, I hope you get a chance to own these lovely tops and skirts before I change my mind!

Sneak Peek and Fresh and Easy Review

10 12 2009

Just finished a shopping spree in Pomona which left me so excited I had to post a Preview of what is to come!

So, after being convinced that I was going to be mugged in the parking lot of the Salvation Army I got my treasures to the car, jumped in and then hauled my booty out of the parking lot. I only venture there rarely as they don’t always carry much good vintage. It’s sad but true… I still heart the Salvation Army Thrift Stores.

Here’s a few peices… I would have added more, but the photos came out pretty bad.

I have about 6 tops, 1 leather jacket and a dress waiting for me to pick up tomorrow… Maybe I’ll do a quick posts so you can see the fruits of my labor.

Part 2: Fresh and Easy Review.

LOVE IT! Why? A few simple reasons: Great packaging of products, they look so appealing to me, They carry Pesto, they clearance out their bread super cheap! I am talking RoseMary Rolls for 65 cents!

Issue: The check out, I was asked 3 times if I needed help working the self-check out scanner so I must really look like a dunce or something. But I did enjoy grouping together the different foods in the bags.

Part 3: Hair Cut on Saturday:
