Today I laid out new items to post in my shop, prepped my new location for the shoot and made sure my husband was busy so I didn’t get distracted… then went to get my camera. It’s gone. After a crazy weekend of events I spent the last 2 days completely exhausted and due to the tiredness I don’t have a clue where it went. The apartment has been searched, the car has been searched, I have made phonecalls to try to find it… nada. So I spent the day lamenting my lack of style, weight gain, horrid growing-out hair length and the loss of my camera… on the floor… in the corner of my etsy room….
It’s 8 hours later. I have read multiple fashion blogs and am feeling a little perkier about things. Just because I stay home all day and live in a “lower income” area with mariachi music blasting doesn’t mean I can’t step things up and rev up the fashion engine.
To start off I impulsively used up a bottle of hair dye in a great ebony brown, a few shades darker then my own hair, but with my hair being one solid color it looks more purposeful and makes my bluish grayish eyes pop.
I also dug through my nail polishes and choose a deep raspberry color for my nails. I have been avoiding nail polish and hair-dye for a while now because I have been on a natural beauty product (and Burts Bees) for about 1 year… BUT, I need a break and a boost to get me going! I’ll detox when I am bored with the two.
I am hoping to pick up a new camera tomorrow if nothing shows up and hope to get my new items in the shop soon. I am adoring sheer 1960s robes as cropped jackets and had a few to post for you. Plus a Great 1950s atomic dress that I am going to try to squeeze into…
I’ve decided the easiest way to look nicer then I do is a good pair of straight jeans with a loose vintage top and flats OR straight/skinny jeans with a loose top and a cropped jacket/fitted sweater. The flowy should hide my new love-handles while the cropped jacket will trim me up…. thank goodness I still have good legs!

I love the Texture of the Shag Rug with the Chrome Lighting on the ceiling.
I obsess and dream of graphic prints because I don’t get to have them. I could, but I’ve noticed that my husband gets really distracted and unsettled so I try to keep things minimalist for him.

I am excited to announce that there are some fantastic retro One-Piece choices for summer and I am actually overwelmed with which to buy first!
Last summer I watched actions on Ebay on Genuine Vintage 1950s swimwear because I wanted a more modest swimming choice. Being 5′10″ that didn’t really work. I had finally given up and found a few I liked at Urban Outfitters and as I went to buy them I noticed that they had completely sold out… Bummer.
My obsession ended with the Decision to just splurge and buy the “Vamp” Swimsuit by Jantzen in Yellow and Gray

available at www.laraines.com
Then Today I stumbled across these at www.Delias.com – a complete DREAM because I’m tall and I was afraid that the vamp wouldn’t fit me well enough:

this one isn’t retro, but I love it’s sporty cute look:

Now, I can finally go back to Salt Creek Beach and drink my Mike’s Hard Cranberry and eat my frozen watermellon balls….. all I need is to wait for summer…. should be here in a week or so.
PS If you can fit in them I still recommend you purchase a true vintage swimsuit with a firm fabric and a zip up back…. it can’t be beat and you will never worry about another skinnier girl wearing the same suit.

My husband and I have been hunting far and wide on craigslist and in thrift stores to create our new home: We have two industrial desks from the 70s for our home office, he will be refinishing them and I hope to post photos of the projects before and after. My dearly Beloved is driving to Venice Beach to hopefully pick up a danish mid century couch which we will also be refinishing and reupholstering . But we have some fun decorations that I wanted to share. All purchased at thrift stores.
First my MAGNIFICENT Will Barnet Limited edition poster from 1978!! I walked by this in a thift shop and immediately and gleefully bought it and put it in my car. I just found out today that it’s worth a pretty penny because it’s signed in pencil =) I am very excited because my hubby and I commited to trying to only buy things which go up in value and I really did it well on this one: Best $19.99 I ever spent!

The one problem with it being worth money is I was hoping I could get on ebay and find numerous prints by him that I could afford because I loved it so much. Oh well, guess I will have to save to get one now.. bum deal.
Other randoms including more coffee cups and also an awesome inspector gadget “Vase”

If my hubby gets the couch then I will try to post before and after photos of it too!

Within the last 7 days I have burned myself twice while cooking. Sucks. Good thing I have the ultimate natural cure for unbearable 2nd degree burns- Honey. Yes… Honey. It does not work for a few hours, but once it does work the burn actually causes no pain anymore, heals nicely and does not get infected. I am no Dr but to me that’s a fantastic quick fix. This one was difficult to place gauze and waterproof tape over because it is a long blistered line across my entire hand, but I made it work. Good thing is I won’t have to do dishes for a week or so!

I was going through old photos on my computer when I came across this funny ad. I think I had downloaded it from Flickr but don’t remember from where.
I thought back to a conversation with a fantastic girl in Palm Springs that is planning on starting up a Vintage Shop… Maybe on Etsy… that’s what my aim is. Onto the conversation…. We were talking about women and how gross most models are and how our culture convinces men that they want sticks instead of the curvy yumminess that women should be.
I loved this Ad and hope it brings us back to the days when women with some meat are all the rage.

I tend to see the word in black and white and tend to rely on my logical deduction a little too heavily. It’s not all bad though! Like, I believe that for a person to not notice flowers while walking past them or a variety of colors of leaves on the ground is missing out. Flat out. Or if a person doesn’t look for patterns in the clouds at least once a week or whenever they get to see them if in Southern California…. their life is void of imagination. One more: No women looks good in spandex. I am not discriminating against the heavier women because I probably have more cellulite then most women out there…. but all women just shouldn’t wear it! Nothing good comes from wearing it!

This is my new blog. I have started this to keep my clients up to date on upcoming events, sales and also random bits of my life.
Me:
I’m 27
I’m Married (to my HighSchool Sweetie)
I’m addicted to the thrill of the hunt that is vintage shopping
I’m 5′10″
I’m obsessed with cookie dough
I’m in love the tingle of Burts Bees Chapstick and the light freshness that I get from Dove Shampoos
I think that’s enough to get us aquainted.
Please see included photo of what my fantasy life would include…

I wish I was doing this
