DON’T LET THEM CALL YOU SKINNY!!

October 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I was going through old photos on my computer when I came across this funny ad. I think I had downloaded it from Flickr but don’t remember from where.

I thought back to a conversation with a fantastic girl in Palm Springs that is planning on starting up a Vintage Shop… Maybe on Etsy… that’s what my aim is. Onto the conversation…. We were talking about women and how gross most models are and how our culture convinces men that they want sticks instead of the curvy yumminess that women should be.

I loved this Ad and hope it brings us back to the days when women with some meat are all the rage.

The Day I took a Nap

October 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I was so tired from my trip over the weekend that I actually crashed at 4pm and napped until my dearly beloved decided to wake me up out of a cold hard sleep for reasons I was to tired to figure out.

Here’s some lame photos of the trip. I didn’t end up going to Joshua Tree because of time constrants and I also did not get to go thrift shopping due to time constrants. BUT I got two fantastic neck massages by amazing friends and I got to spent time by the pool… and I went shopping in Down Town Palm Springs and ate some DELICIOUS Ceviche!

Here’s some photos….

The Monarch

My favorite 1970s Italian Sunglasses

My Vintage Mercedes that I still need to purchase

My only real landscape photo- it was while the sun was setting behind the mountain… love the rays and the shadows in the hills!

Sorry if my trip disappointed you. Next time i will do better and be waaay more exciting.

THE BEGINNING OF LADY GRUNGE

October 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Fortunately for you, I’m not going to tell you my life story. It’s rather boring until 17 and then up until 25 you may be enthralled but probably uncomfortable. But moving on…………………….

So My first item to be posted on Ladygrunge.etsy.com is finally ready. All seams finished, everything complete. What is it you ask? Well, Let’s just say it’s plaid and cute and my husband doesn’t like it which is a fantastic sign that it is destined for greatness!!! Kind of like my Vintage Acme boots that he was embarassed when I wore in public… but the world knows they rock.

So, I’m going to try to get photos up tomorrow. I’m going to try to  go down to the little concrete water thingy way back behind my condo and force him to do my photos… but we’ll see…. I’ll probably in my laziness just stand in front of the curtain instead of the wall.

Stay tuned!!

Palm Springs Here I come!

October 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I am so excited! Going to Palm Springs with some ladies I know for the weekend. It’s actualy a womens retreat for my church which some awesome chicks I know will be at.

What I am most excited about is that we will be going to Joshua Tree National Park to which you may say…”OooO yey. desert” But let me tell you a thing about Joshua Tree. Gorgeous. Rough. Romantically deserted. Barren. Wide Skies. Trillions of stars, God’s rock collection. PERFECTION!

You may know it from that one U2 video and I thought that Audioslave shot out there too but can’t verify.

Here’s some awesome photos I found on it:

Just a few because I have a lot to accomplish before I leave tomorrow evening.

Everything is so Black and White

October 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I tend to see the word in black and white and tend to rely on my logical deduction a little too heavily. It’s not all bad though! Like, I believe that for a person to not notice flowers while walking past them or a variety of colors of leaves on the ground is missing out. Flat out. Or if a person doesn’t look for patterns in the clouds at least once a week or whenever they get to see them if in Southern California…. their life is void of imagination.  One more: No women looks good in spandex. I am not discriminating against the heavier women because I probably have more cellulite then most women out there…. but all women just shouldn’t wear it! Nothing good comes from wearing it!

Some Yummy Delights from Lady Grunge

October 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I am sitting here waiting for my husband to get out of eyesight of the  kitchen so I can sneak in and grab the candybar I hid there earlier. The reason it is hidden is because I eat it over 3-4 days savoring every moment. He eats in it 3 minutes and will not even leave a crumb if he finds it. It is imperative that he is unaware of it’s location or even existence!

New Items in my shop:

Vintage Black Chanel Sunglasses # 1 More of a Square Frame

Vintage Chanel Sunglasses #2 Tortoiseshell. Oversized Round

Thoughts While Cleaning my carpet

October 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Interesting reflections today on many things… I’ve been cleaning the carpet which means my brain can begin to float around and lightly touch on things I normally don’t think of.

1. This is my first recession that I paid any attention to (depending on your definition of paying attention).  Actually, this is the first time in my life I have paid much attention at all to finances or the economy. The only reason I paid attention is that mine fell apart a while back. Being tied to the construction industry, by the time everyone else was feeling the economy tighten we had lost everything but one car, our dog and our stainless steel refrigerator. It’s been a crazy year nearing 2 years and it’s even crazier that at 27 I am able to sit back relaxed while others are panicking and say “Eh, it’s not all that bad, everything will work out.”

That leads me to the next piece of this thought:

A Quote by the Puritans

Poverty and affliction take away the fuel that feeds pride.

—Richard Sibbes

Why do economics tear people and relationships apart? Why should being broke tear apart a family or cause depression and anxiety?

HmmMMmM……………………….. contemplate that for a moment

How much of our suffering is based on what others will think of our situation?  Think about that one. Are you suffering because you can’t keep up with the Joneses which is caused by stupid financial decisions because you were trying to keep up with the Joneses? What if you forgot that the Joneses live next door and work in the next cubicle? Let’s say you are on an island with just your loved ones and genuine friends. Would eating beans (from their while cheapest form) nearly everyday be humiliating? How about not having newer clothing? Shopping in the clearance food section of your grocery store? Would the brand of shoes you wear really matter?

Hmmmm………………. why are the people I love living in fear and emotional termoil when loosing everything really isn’t all that bad?

Just some thoughts of mine.

2. Friends who can discuss a variety of concepts, moral values, books, documentaries and worldviews on a non emotional level are so rare and yet I have been blessed with so many! Not only that, but can discuss it logically and rationally. Not only that, but when there’s a problem is gets addressed and the relationship goes on after a few days comfortably. Thank God for my friends! Oh, and they can discuss clothing to!

3. Why are California Pizza Kitchen Pizzas the same price in the freezer sectin whether small or large? Why even sell the small if you can get the large for the same price? Who is buying these small equally expensive pizzas? That torments me every time I go to the store.

4. Where will I move to and how am I going to change through this move…..

Then I walked down and bought a pizza. I got the Sicilian from California Pizza Kitchen (Thin Crust) but it doesn’t hold a pepperoni to the Digorno Garlic Crust with everything on it. Not a SINGLE PEPPERONI!
